Acne Relief Product Buyer’s Guide (updated July 2024)

Information About Acne

Acne develops when a hair follicle gets clogged and sebum (body oil) is trapped inside and presents itself in different forms. The types of Acne include:

  • Whiteheads – Closed blocked follicles.
  • Blackheads – Open blocked follicles.
  • Papules – Small red bumps which feel tender.
  • Pimples/pustules – Papules which have pus at their tips.
  • Nodules – Large bumps beneath the skin’s surface which are usually painful.
  • Cysts – Painful bumps which are full of pus found beneath the skin’s surface.

Whiteheads and blackheads are categorized as non-inflammatory Acne whereas papules, pimples, nodules and cysts are considered inflammatory Acne. It is essential that Acne is dealt with because if left, or picked at or popped, it can cause bad scarring.

Usually, as new skin cells are produced, dead skin cells collect in follicles or pores before they rise to the surface of the skin and gradually fall off. There are also sebaceous glands connected to the hair follicle. These produce sebum which is a natural body oil. When there is an excess of sebum, it may cause dead skin cells to stick together which then clogs up the follicles.

Unfortunately, a lot of the prescription medication available presents with side effects, so many individuals are opting more and more for natural health supplements to overcome the challenging symptoms of Acne. However, there are many supplements out there for Acne that don’t actually work. That is until now!

Given the right formula, from a quality manufacturer that has based their product upon scientific research and clinical data, there are supplements out there that will do exactly what they say they will with many people experiencing incredible results from a top-quality supplement to reduce Acne suffering. Our research has shown that given the correct dosage and potency of specific key ingredients – you can achieve the results that you want.

There are several key elements which make a highly effective, top-quality Acne supplement. These include key ingredients such as Niacinamide, Pantothenic Acid, the correct balance of Zinc and Copper and Vitamin A and E which have been endorsed by many scientists, medical researchers, doctors, and nutritionists. Clinical studies further support the benefits of such key ingredients with many participants experiencing positive results. These natural ingredients are shining a light and leading the way, where so many others have fallen when it comes to dealing with Acne.

Key points to consider when choosing an Acne supplement

Of course, you will be dubious, so were we. Many manufacturers of health care supplements make grand promises of renewed health, only to find out a month later, that there is no real change and you are left with an empty bottle, empty purse, and empty promises. Don’t dismay – there are some that really do work – you just need to find a genuine product.

As soon as a new product hits the market, dozens of manufacturers appear, almost overnight, to try jump on board. As a result, consumers need to be on the lookout for many products that are watered down and quite frankly ineffective, promising results that are totally unrealistic and undeliverable.

When choosing an Acne supplement, you should look for a company with a strong reputation, that sells a wide range of nutritional natural dietary health supplements. An effective supplement will be formulated using high-quality ingredients that have been proven effective in clinical trials such as Niacinamide, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin A, Zinc and Copper to name but a few, which will provide the most powerful results.

If you come across a company selling Acne supplements using strong marketing terms or slogans, or are endorsed by famous celebrities, you should stay clear. If the company and product formula don’t speak for themselves, then nothing else should.

Should you decide that a natural Acne supplement is for you, and you would like to try a top-quality product, check out our reviews for a number of Acne products that are currently available on the market. We examined numerous products for their ingredients, consumer feedback, business reputation and much more to help you discover which supplements are the real deal! You no longer need to search Google for your answers, no more guesswork, we have done all the hard work for you.

What makes an Acne supplement effective?

The secret is simply in the formula! Using the correct dosage and potency of clinically-proven key ingredients will help achieve results like nothing else. Key ingredients such as Niacinamide and Pantothenic Acid have been clinically proven to reduce inflammation and help regulate the amount of oil produced by the sebaceous glands. Others such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Zinc have been shown to clear Acne and promote healthy skin cells.

Our recommended choice stands above and beyond the competition, we think you will agree. The company’s excellent reputation, high-quality product, external independent monitoring, and testing, coupled with an incredible money-back guarantee policy, makes this a formula that you are going to want to take a closer look at.

SkinB5 Extra Strength Acne Control Vitamins

SkinB5 was developed by an Australian entrepreneur and is named as such due to its star ingredient of Pantothenic Acid, also known as Vitamin B5. Many manufacturers have mistakenly left out this clinically-proven ingredient, so we are pleased to find it here. However, while it also contains Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide or Nicotinamide), it is in a much lower dose than what is recommended.  Additionally, while we were pleased to see that both Zinc and Copper are included in this ingredient list, they are not in the correct ratio which is proven to have the optimal health benefits for the body. We were also disappointed to see that they omitted ingredients such as Vitamin E, Chromium and BioPerine. Overall though, we like this manufacturer and feel that they formulated a decent option.

When reviewing this product, we were pleased to see a price tag that suggests quality – not cheap, but definitely affordable.  We appreciated the fact they based their formula upon Pantothenic Acid and that they included quality ingredients. Unfortunately, we felt that they were simply lacking some key ingredients that are backed by scientific research and their formula did not have many positive reviews that we were able to find. They could also have definitely improved the kind of guarantee they provide but we realize that a good guarantee usually comes with a manufacturer’s confidence in the results you will experience so that could explain why.

We appreciated the fact that this supplement offers a full month’s supply (120 capsules) and that the price is relatively affordable. It isn’t the cheapest we found but cheap doesn’t always mean quality so when it comes to good quality supplements, most of the time, you get what you pay for. However, we were shocked to see that there is only a return policy on damaged products and even then, customers only have 14 days in which to claim return. Furthermore, we were also discouraged to see that they have an autoship option as it can be very difficult for customer to disentangle themselves from that commitment.

Acnetame claims to be beneficial for hormonal Acne and is targeted specifically for people with oily skin. We were happy to see that this product does contain Pantothenic Acid, Niacinamide, Vitamin A and some other well-documented ingredients. However, the amount of possible side effects is actually staggering.

We liked the fact that this product contains a large serving of Pantothenic Acid for controlling oil production as well as promoting healthy skin. However, we did find their dose of Niacinamide to be lacking. We were very glad to see the inclusion of BioPerine to enhance the efficacy of this product, however, it’s hard to tell how much BioPerine is actually added as it is included in a proprietary blend. Our biggest red flag was the amount of Vitamin A in this product as it exceeds the daily amount which should be taken by women. This has the potential to be dangerous for one’s health and not something to be taken lightly.

Most impressive is the sheer volume of reviews you can find about Acnetame. While a great many are positive, the negative reviews suggest some very serious side effects that need serious review. Indeed on the actual bottle of this supplement, there are concerns of dry eye, upset stomach, vertigo, joint pain and headaches. Many customers have also complained about dry skin, vomiting and constipation. It may be that for people with specific Acne problems, this could work well, but it doesn’t seem to be the Acne solution for all different types of Acne.
